Kai Enzweiler (Consultant, Sinologist/Anthropologist) “Foresight as
a Basis for Strategic Decision-Making“

Kai Enzweiler is a consultant at VDI/VDE Innovation + Technik GmbH, advising the Federal Ministry of Education and Research (Germany) in the field of foresight, and innovation and technology analysis. After graduating in Sinology, Psychology, and Anthropology, he worked as a consultant to KPMG analyzing the effects of digitalization on the financial services industry and was also employed as a research fellow at the University of Bonn.

Abstract:
Foresight explores the future of scientific and technological achievements and their potential impacts on society. It aims to identify the areas of scientific research and technological development most likely to bring about change. This talk explores the capacity of foresight activities as a basis for strategic decision making, and links such activities to sociological theories of decision-making.
