Nothing lasts forever. 革 (gé) stands for change, yet not a gentle or passive one. Whether in a radical form as in “革命” or in a more moderate one as in “改革”, it embodies the will to transform in spite of uncertainty and the cost it may entail, capturing the tension between what must end and what dares to begin. My research also lies at the transition between these two periods, aiming to measure the derivative – the “change of change”- of the evolution of the regime.
