Das Zeichen 戯 — „Spiel“ — erinnert mich an das Gefühl zu Beginn meines Studiums: Das Erlernen der chinesischen Sprache war ein spannendes Abenteuer, die Entdeckung einer neuen Welt und mit viel Spaß verbunden. Später lernte ich, dass das Schriftzeichen seinen Ursprung im militärischen Kontext hat, was mich an die problematischen Seiten denken lässt, die mit der Auseinandersetzung mit dem gegenwärtigen China einhergehen. Zum Glück ist das Zeichen aber ebenso Teil des modernen chinesischen Wortes für „Theater“ (戲劇) — auch eine Art von Spiel — und verweist damit auf einen wichtigen Bereich meiner Forschung.
