Networks of China’s Minor Parties

Academic Networks and Political Activism in China – A Case Study on the Jiusan Study Society, 1944-1957

This project seeks to reconstruct changes in the programs, activities, and membership structures of a Chinese minority party, the Jiusan xueshe (Jiusan Study Society) under early Communist rule. An innovative approach combines the critical analysis of archival materials and Jiusan publications with theoretical frameworks from the field of political science and the methodology of Historical Network Analysis (HNA).

Funding for this project is provided by the Emerging Talents Initiative (ETI) of the FAU as well as the Bavarian Equal Opportunities Sponsorship – Förderung von Frauen in Forschung und Lehre (FFL).

Additionally, the Wikimedia Foundation, the Stifterverband, and the VolkswagenStiftung have awarded Dr. Henrike Rudolph with a Fellowship in the program “Freies Wissen” to support the development of a project homepage and the documentation of the project as part of an open science initiative.
